Parent visa
The Australian Family Migration Program facilitates family reunification by offering a range of parent visas, both temporary and permanent. These visas enable children who are permanent residents of Australia, Australian citizens, or eligible New Zealand citizens, to sponsor their parents. Adherence to criteria set by the Department of Home Affairs is mandatory for successful applications.

Parent Visa Requirements
-
Family Balance Test: Relevant for visas 103,143, 173, 804, 864 and 884. Requires the applicant to have a majority of their children living in Australia as Permanent Residents or Australian citizens.
-
Sponsorship: Requires a child residing in Australia for at least two years as a Permanent Resident or Australian citizen to sponsor the applicant. This includes an Assurance of Support, which is a bond held in an Australian bank for ten years.
