Eligible Nominators for Applicants of the Global Talent Visa
Eligible nominators for a Global Talent Visa applicant include:
-
an Australian or New Zealand citizen renowned in the applicant's field
-
an Australian entity proficient in the same expertise area.
Importantly, the role of the nominator is not to offer employment or undertake sponsorship responsibilities for the applicant.
Applicants are advised that once the visa application has been submitted, the choice of nominator cannot be altered. Amendments to the nominator can only be made prior to lodging the application, albeit potentially causing delays in the process. It is important to note that Global Talent Officers are ineligible to serve as nominators. Applicants should leverage their Australian networks to identify a suitable nominator.

Duration for Global Talent Independent (GTI) application processing
-
In the 2022-2023 migration agenda, the Global Talent Visa has been accorded less precedence compared to previous years. Nonetheless, the visa processing duration remains relatively short, with our clients typically receiving their visas within two to three months post-application submission.
-
Yet, it is anticipated that the Expression of Interest (EOI) stage will be considerably more time-consuming and rigorous according to the Department's expectations. Identifying a suitable nominator emerges as the most critical and demanding aspect of this process.
Who is eligible to engage in the Global Talent Program?
Honors Masters and Bachelors Degrees
As of 20 January 2021, qualifications such as Masters by Coursework, Masters by Research, and Bachelor with Honors, in isolation, will cease to qualify for invitations under the Global Talent program.
PhD holders and candidates nearing their thesis submission
PhD holders are required to furnish documentation confirming their completion of studies in a designated priority sector within the past three years. Similarly, doctoral candidates need to submit proof of their imminent completion of their PhD program, alongside evidence of their remarkable and distinguished professional accomplishments.
All PhD graduates and candidates are required to furnish verifiable evidence that their academic credentials align with Australian educational benchmarks. They are obligated to demonstrate that their achievements are exceptional, outstanding, and that their research contributions hold significant international relevance. Fulfilling the responsibility of presenting proof of adherence to these standards is essential for the applicants. It is strongly recommended for applicants to seek guidance from authoritative Australian educational resources.
